Intermittent fasting, gotta love it!
Hey My friends! I have a few things that I want to update you guys on with myintermittent fasting case study.
I completed two weeks of this case study and tomorrow will start the third week. I had an interesting week with the Superbowl and I had a good friend come in from Sarasota, Fla. for one day. These two events put a little bit of a damper on my fasting, which is perfect for this intermittent fasting case study.
I planned on fasting on Monday and Friday again, like I did last week. That didn’t happen on Monday, since I usually fast from after dinner Sunday until dinner on Monday. I ate a bunch of stuff for the Superbowl and ate a lot later than my usual 5:30 or 6:00 pm dinner. Instead of worrying about it, I just shit canned the Monday fast and figured I would fast on Wednesday. Well that didn’t happen either because my friend Bill came in town just for one night and we ate and drank a few until midnight.
My first thought was that I better not do that because of this case study. I later came to the conclusion that this is actually perfect for this case study. I have been preaching to you guys about the flexibility of intermittent fasting and how you don’t want to turn it in to a diet, right?
Well, this past week is a great example.
Let’s see how it went and what progress I made. I only fasted on Friday, (Thursday after dinner to Friday dinner), and ate like a beast pretty much the rest of the days. How is that for not turning this in to an everyday diet? I didn’t record my weight Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this week because I went on a ski trip and didn’t have a scale.

Intermittent Fasting Weigh In

Here is the breakdown of my weight each day starting on Monday February 6, 2012:
Monday- 178.7 lbs
Tuesday- 175.8 lbs
Wednesday- 177.9 lbs
Thursday- 180.3 lbs
Friday- 177.8 lbs
Saturday- 176.3 lbs
Sunday- 176.4 lbs
As you can see, I weighed the most on the morning after the Superbowl (Monday) and partying with my friend (Thursday). You can also see that the weight went back to normal the next days after. This is common and brings up something that I want to talk about.
I get frantic emails a lot from people that are doing great with intermittent fasting and then either slow down or even gain weight. As you can see, this is common and if you fast the way that I do, it is inevitable.
For this intermittent fasting case study if I just wanted it to look good, I could fast three times a week and eat very little in between. I would lose a bunch of weight and skew the results.
But is that what you guys want? Is that real? No, it’s bullshit and that’s why I’m not doing it. I may do that sometimes if I want to lose weight fast for an event, but it’s not real life. It isn't how I normally do it and it isn’t how you guys should do it.
If I fast and diet in between, I won’t stick with it and either will you.
By fasting and eating a little looser in between, I am showing you a more real and an easier way to stick with intermittent fasting. Of course, the better you eat in between and the healthier you eat is always going to be better for you. I am not doing this intermittent fasting case study to teach you how to be the healthiest, I am showing you how I lose weight.

As usual, I will keep updating this case study and let you guys know how it is going.

Intermittent Fasting and Running

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that besides intermittent fasting, I have been running. I got injured last August from over doing it and had to take time off. I am back to running and in the middle of rehabbing my hip injury and getting ready for the Pittsburgh Marathon. I don’t know what it is about running, but it makes you a little whacky. For instance, how about this?
It is 5:30 am this morning (Sunday) and the alarm goes off. I get up and get dressed and go down to my home gym and stretch and use the foam roller to get loosened up for my run. By 6:30 am, I am out the door and do a 1-1/2 mile walk/run warmup to get to my friend and running partners house. We run 9 miles up some of the steepest hills in our area, dodging snow, ice, and a few cars.
Oh, I forgot to mention that it was 14 degrees with a wind chill of -5 degrees and there was some blowing snow!
After the 9 miles, I did another 1-1/2 mile walk/run cool down back to my house. Sounds like fun, huh? Well, actually it was. It was awesome and the most important part is that I have no pain or injuries!  icon smile Intermittent Fasting Case Study Update And Running in 14 Degree Weather The funniest part of it all was the look on this older guys’ face while we run past him, as he shovels the snow on his driveway. I think he thought we were nuts!
Not nuts. Just runners.
[I like at the 3:17 mark it says, "There is really no such thing as bad weather. Only different kinds of good weather!" I would have to agree.]
After these hills that we ran this morning, the half marathon is going to feel like a breeze!
I hope.  icon wink Intermittent Fasting Case Study Update And Running in 14 Degree Weather
